Bursting ideological bubbles with logical ideas, part 1

So my professor was trying to give a lecture on affirmative action....fail! Boy was she nervous with two black men in the room! Tried to tell the class there exists something called "reverse discrimination". So when I asked who perpetrates this, she says white people. So how is it reverse? Ain't that just them discriminating against there own as a response to years of racism in the workplace and school? Crickets.....

See, people throw around the term reverse discrimination as if minorities are discriminating against the established power structure. As a minority, we do not posses the power to do this. If we did, we wouldn't allow white people in RnB, or white people into the Bollywood power structure, or any number of other institutions that are predominately minority. No, we cannot perpetrate discrimination. Thus the term reverse discrimination is a misnomer.

Now, I am no fan of quotas, but I also know that affirmative action ain't discrimination. And I know there is no such thing as reverse racism. Sorry to be a bubble burster!

It's been a long time...

So no blogging from me for a while! Reasons, hmmm.....my IPad was stolen, I had to finish my undergrad degree, I got passed over for a position at work so I was NOT about to write those feelings out, I started grad school, my daughter graduated 8th grade, shall I go on? Basically, I was lazy! But now I'm back! I promise one a week from now on! Time for me to take this thing seriously! Guest bloggers, sponsors, print media the prints from other works of mine....I'm excited! Let's go!

King Day?

It's been a minute!  Happy New Year!  Happy King Day!  And that's where imma start!

I saw a lot of people mad about some party promotional flyers that may have had Dr. King in a less than favorable light while promoting a party that you could kick it a longer cuz Congress voted you a Holiday!  Black folks was maaaaad!  How dare we desecrate the idea of Martin Luther the King!  Tom Joyner got the promoters to cancel the party! We thought we were living out an episode of The Boondocks! What was Stevie Wonder singing for, this ratchedness!

Then the Holiday came!  And what did we do? We watched the NBA which has decided that this is the perfect day to have games on all day like its Christmas, and to promote it as a special King Holiday Basketball extravaganza!  But we ain't never complained about that.

Last week must've been the anniversary for every Black Greek Organization in the country!  My timeline was flooded with pics of paraphernalia, generations of members, parties, step shows and the famous members! I was proud that many of my friends were proud of there organizations. Much love!  But, where were the pictures of the service that was done on this day off?  Where were the announcements of using this day not as a day to rest, but a day to work?  Too busy watching the Knicks and Nets huh?  Yeah me too!

So this day, I am putting a challenge out there to all peoplem, but especially those African-Americans, Black Folks, Ni**ers, or whatever we going by today.  Next year, lets all do ONE thing that is giving back.  Let's take pictures of it! Let's blow up Black Twitter and Facebook!  And if we are lucky, lets get it done before the late games on the West Coast!
